NE Tobago Talks UNESCO Status

Talks on nominating north east Tobago as a UNESCO site will take place over the next eight days.

Starting today, meetings are scheduled in various communities in the north east region. The first meeting starts this evening at 6 p.m. at the Parlatuvier Multi-purpose Facility.

The other meetings—scheduled for tomorrow (May 1; Speyside High School), Thursday (May 2; Castara Community Centre), and May 7 (Charlotteville Library) —will all begin at 5.30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend the meetings and contribute to discussions on the development of communities and business opportunities related to north east Tobago’s natural and cultural heritage.

The sessions will be facilitated by a caucus of NGOs and stakeholders in collaboration with the Tobago House of Assembly. The Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville (ERIC) will make a presentation on the UNESCO proposal at the meetings.
