International Literacy Day (ILD) is celebrated annually on September 8th to shine a spotlight on global literacy needs.
Under the theme ‘Literacy and Multilingualism’, this year’s focus is on linguistic diversity in education and literacy development to overcome reading challenges.
The James Biggart Adult Library, situated on the 1st floor of the Scarborough Library Facility, is partnering with the Tobago Institute of Literacy (TIL) to commemorate this occasion, today and tomorrow (September 10th & 11th).
Information sessions are being held at the Adult Library from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on both days. Interested persons are invited to attend any one of the sessions to learn about TIL’s adult and student literacy classes or sign up as a literacy tutor volunteer. There will also be an opportunity to win prizes.
