Keeping Women Safe

Tobago joined the world in commemorating International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women earlier this week, as the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development called on citizens to help women achieve equality.

Violence against women is a persistent human rights violation worldwide. One in three women and girls will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which brings awareness to this problem, also marks the beginning of 16 days of activism that concludes on Human Rights Day, December 10th.
