Eight probationers, currently before the court, graduated from a “Thinking for a Change” programme on December 6th at the Probation Unit, Main Street, Scarborough.
The programme is an initiative of the Unit to create new ways of thinking among young offenders, in an effort to reduce recidivism. The programme was held weekly over the course of six weeks.
Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Councillor Dr. Agatha Carrington told graduates, “The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old but on building the new. The Division commits to working with you to make the necessary changes in your lives.”
The programme includes education on cognitive change, choices and consequences.
