The Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) partnered with the Association of Tobago Dive Operators (ATDO) to promote the island’s dive niche with a collaborative familiarisation trip from December 8 to 15, 2019.
TTAL has been promoting Tobago as a premier Caribbean dive destination with strategic consumer and trade activities, including attendance at international dive events such as the Birmingham Dive Show in the UK and DEMA Show in the USA.
This first ever joint fam trip with ATDO is a new joint initiative to increase awareness about Tobago as a leading dive destination on the global stage, in order to drive incremental tourism arrivals to the destination.
Mr. Louis Lewis, CEO of Tobago Tourism Agency stated: “It is those types of joint initiatives that are important to amplify efforts at developing our tourism industry. It is the collaborative combination of the private sector and the State Agencies that ensures a thriving industry.”
Participants on the trip included tour operator partners and dive travel consultants from the UK, as well as a dive photo-journalist who will be producing written and photographic content for an integrated marketing campaign by TTAL in conjunction with a global dive publication.
The delegation was exposed to an intensive programme of dives at a variety of dive sites, hosted on a complimentary basis from the following members of the Association of Tobago Dive Operators: Tobago Dive Experience, Blue Waters Dive, Under Sea Tobago, Black Rock Divers, and R & Sea Divers. They also experienced nature orientated excursions and the various cultural and culinary offerings of destination Tobago.
President of the ATDO, Mr. Sean Robinson stated, “The partnership between the ATDO and TTAL for the recent UK fam tour provided our wholesale dive operators a chance to experience the many wonders that diving in Tobago offers. Many of the dive tour operators have forgotten what a fantastic dive destination Tobago is. Hosting fam’s for targeted wholesalers, dive shops and travel agents is an invaluable opportunity to showcase what Tobago has to offer underwater and above!”
