A public consultation hosted by the Health Task Force, established by THA Chief Secretary Hon. Kelvin Charles, was held on March 3.

It is chaired by THA Chief Administrator Bernadette Solomon-Koroma. The consultation was part of its efforts to engage with individuals and communities across the island.

Solomon-Koroma said she was impressed with the frankness of the interaction with both public citizens and healthcare workers.

“We were able to get a balance on the contributions made. We heard about what the patients experienced when they go for a service at the hospital, and we also heard from the staff at the other end about the challenges they face in the workplace.”

She noted that those who contributed to the discussion made some excellent recommendations and alluded to what’s next.

“Our next step is looking at the organizational structure of the hospital, the standards of operation, and the strategic guidelines and policies, to aid towards the implementation of best practices throughout the healthcare system,” she concluded.

Other members of the Task Force are Dr. Anton Cumberbatch, Human Resource Consultant Carol David, Former TRHA CEO Ashworth Learmont and Cecile Beckles.
