House-mother Susan Phillips-Jack said the assistance will go a long way in completing the first phase of the new building and hoped that other organisations and well-wishers would come forward to assist in the project. She said the new building will allow the Home to increase the number of children being provided for from 24 to between 30 and 35. “Everybody can put a hand and a little can go a long way,” she said.
Chief Secretary London said he hoped that the THA’s contribution will be a catalyst for organisations and individuals in Tobago, the country and the region to assist this worthy cause.
He said the first tranche was given based on what was done in the past and the Assembly’s confidence that the Home would in fact deliver to the people of Tobago, while the second tranche was earned. “I have seen what you have done with the first tranche and I think all of us including the Chief Administrator who would have done the evaluation are very pleased that you would have in fact invested the money you would have got from the people of Tobago, invested it in a way that you could continue to help the children of Tobago.
