Street Naming Ceremony

In the Scarborough/Calder Hall District, a street was named after former teacher and Tobago cultural icon Kenetta Bobb. Her neighbour, Kevon McKenna, spearheaded the idea of renaming the street and gathered the signatures of other residents who backed the idea.

The idea was presented to Area Representative and Secretary of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour Marslyn Melville-Jack, who helped guide the process and collaborated with residents to host a ceremony. And on December 15, 2020, Cradley Trace was renamed Kenetta Bobb Drive.

Bobb’s contribution to Tobago as a home economics teacher and thespian is legendary.

She received the Tobago Teacher’s Icon Award in 2018. She was also among 70 recipients honoured at the Heritage Recognition Awards in 2019 for her contribution to the Tobago Heritage Festival. Their names are now enshrined on a Heritage Scroll of Honour displayed at the Icons of Tobago Museum at Fort King George, Scarborough.
