Earlier today (26th July, 2022), the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Services (TTPS) and the Tobago Regional Health Authority relocated the residents of a Seniors’ Home on the Island. Breaches to the Private Hospital Act and evidence of adverse conditions were discovered -which necessitated urgent action.

The Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection took the immediate action of having residents medically examined and relocated to alternate accommodations today and further inquiries are being made.

Family members have been informed accordingly and the Division will continue to be in contact with them to provide the necessary updates, therapeutic counselling, medical and social support to both family members and residents.

This matter is considered as one of great urgency and importance, and the Division remains committed to providing the necessary intervention and support to those affected.
