Tobago Independence Day Parade 2015

The twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago can tune into THA Chief Secretary Orville London’s Independence Day message on Monday, August 31st as T&T celebrate 53 years of Independence.

The Chief Secretary’s message will be aired on i95.5 FM from 7:15 a.m. and can be viewed on Tobago Channel 5 from 6:45 a.m.

The 2015 Tobago Independence Parade will begin promptly at 8:00 am at the Bacolet Grounds, adjacent to the Dwight Yorke Stadium. The parade will travel along the Claude Noel Highway and end at the Gardenside Car Park. The Office of the Chief Secretary advises the public that there will be the sounding of cannons. The cannons will be fired 20 times during the playing of the national anthem.

The public can also view the annual fireworks ceremony from 8 p.m. on Monday night, which takes place at Fort King George. All vehicular traffic at the Fort, however, is prohibited. The fireworks can be viewed from various locations in Scarborough.

The Division of Tourism and Transportation has also advised that Fort King George will be closed from Saturday August 29 to facilitate preparations for the fireworks display. The Fort will reopen on Tuesday September 01.
