Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will make his first visit to Tobago this coming weekend since being elected on September 7.

The Prime Minister, who was born in Mason Hall, Tobago, will arrive on the island tomorrow morning (October 23), and make his first stop at the Mason Hall Government Primary School, which he attended as a child, at 9 a.m.

Dr. Rowley will then visit his alma mater Bishops High School, where he completed A’ Levels before pursuing his tertiary education at the University of the West Indies.

The Prime Minister and Chief Secretary Orville London will then meet at the Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort at 2 p.m.

London has written to the Prime Minister on the topics he would like them to discuss when they meet, the Chief Secretary told reporters at yesterday’s (October 21) post Executive Council media briefing. London hopes that this meeting will be a prelude to many future meetings.

Among the topics for discussion are improving the relationship between the Assembly and the Central Government, some operational activities that require executive direction, and the performance of services in the schedule of the THA Act. Processes for improved collaboration between the Prime Minister and the Chief Secretary, and between Secretaries and Ministers, and the self-government process are also on the list.

London also wants to discuss Central Government’s allocation to the Assembly, the Assembly’s right to borrow, housing in Tobago, and the overdue construction of the Old Grange and Roxborough Police Stations, as well as the Fire Headquarters, also in Roxborough.

On Monday (October 26), a Special sitting of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) has been arranged for 10 a.m., which Dr. Rowley will attend.

Later in the day, the Chief Secretary and Mrs. London will host a cocktail reception in Dr. Rowley’s honour at the Penthouse of the Victor E. Bruce Financial Complex from 6.30 p.m.
