Chief Secretary Orville London will discuss the need for a Tobago-specific crime plan with National Security Minister retired Brigadier General Dillon when they meet on Monday.

The meeting takes place at the Administrative Complex, Calder Hall from 8.30 a.m.

London announced this at the post Cabinet meeting, held at the Magdalena Grand Resort, Lowlands on Thursday (March 3).

It was the first Cabinet meeting the Chief Secretary attended under the current PNM administration to discuss issues affecting Tobago.

On Wednesday (March 2), London also said he will raise at least 12 issues with the Minister at Monday’s meeting. These include the construction of police stations at Old Grange and Roxborough, installing CCTV Cameras on the island, port security, and collaboration with the various security services in Tobago.

“We must bear in mind that we have not had any formal meeting with any Minister of National Security since September 2014,” London said. “There are a number of long outstanding issues which have to be addressed.”

Of yesterday’s meeting, he said a range of issues were discussed.

“The Cabinet was able to look at issues affecting Tobago and the tourism sector, the whole issue of land tenure regularisation.”

The Chief Secretary added that he did get a commitment from the Attorney General that the three Bills related to land titles—which were discarded in 2010—will be looked at again.

“The whole objective is to find a way as how we can get through the judicial and legal and administrative challenges as we try to deal with this troubling question,” London said.

London said they talked about the island’s public transportation woes.

He said the Secretaries were able to discuss common issues with their Cabinet counterparts during a working luncheon, and was pleased with the camaraderie among them.
