The Division of Tourism, Culture, and Transportation celebrated the success of Tobago’s own Calypso Rose by hosting a Welcome Reception for the calypsonian at the ANR Robinson International Airport this morning (March 2, 2017).
The reception was in honour of Calypso Rose’s contributions to music and T&T as a nation.
On February 10, 2017 Calypso Rose won the prestigious Victoires de la Musique Awards in France for Album of the Year, “Far From Home.” This was the first time a Caribbean artist won the Victoire award, the French equivalent of the Grammys.
Present to welcome her at the tarmac were THA Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles, Secretary for Tourism, Culture and Transportation Nadine Stewart-Phillips, and other THA representatives. The event was attended by visitors, locals and students, who cheered Calypso Rose as she entered the Domestic Arrival Hall dancing and singing to the music that played. A formal welcome reception was held at the Domestic Departure Hall.
