The skills of Tobago’s athletic coaches will be enhanced with a physical education programme designed to boost their knowledge.
The training will run from July 25 to August 15. Secretary of Sport and Youth Affairs Jomo Pitt said this will benefit the island’s primary school students.
“It is our intent to have our coaches assigned to each school permanently,” Pitt explained during Wednesday’s (July 11) post Executive Council media briefing, “in an attempt to ensure that our young boys and girls at the primary school level are exposed to physical education at a predictable and regular time.”
This principle is also at work in the Division’s annual THA Sport Camp, which began on Monday, and will end July 20. The camp caters to children ages seven to 15 years.
“The venues that we have are Shaw Park, Roxborough, Mason Hall and Turtle Beach. The YMCA at Kendall will also be one of the venues for swimming,” Pitt said.
