Scarborough Market To Be ‘On Time’

The old Scarborough Market will be renovated at a cost of $28 million.

Lois Leslie, the CEO of project manager Eco-Industrial Development Company of Tobago (E-IDCOT), said the contract was signed with Trinidad and Tobago-based Alpha Engineering and Construction Limited.

“Tenders for this project were invited in June of 2016, we received bids from four entities and at the end of the process Alpha Engineering Limited was selected as the contractor who would ensure a successful remodelling of the Scarborough Market,” Leslie said.

Alpha Engineering Managing Director Matthew Deveau said the company will work to deliver a quality project.

“We are very happy to be a part of this project,” Deveau stated, adding the assurance that “this project will be completed on time and within budget”.

In May, 150 market vendors were relocated to the temporary market facility at Shaw Park to facilitate the renovations.
