Two UK writers earned recognition at the Caribbean Travel Media Awards thanks to a little inspiration from Tobago.
Tamara Hinson of Express Weekend Magazine and travel writer Tim Hughes of the Oxford Mail & Oxford Times picked up awards during last week’s World Travel Market in London after writing about their visits to the island.
Tamara Hinson of Express Weekend Magazine won “Best National Newspaper Feature” for her Travel Weekly article, published in March. She described Tobago as “the most beautiful Caribbean island I’ve visited” and “one of the cheapest Caribbean islands” in her piece that described her activity-packed trip.
During her time in Tobago, Hinson experienced a bioluminescence tour, a visit to the panoramic Fort King George Heritage Park, and a tour of the Tobago Cocoa Estate.
Hughes was first runner-up in the “Best Regional Newspaper Feature”, after visiting Tobago in October 2017. Among the memorable events on his press trip, was the Tobago Blue Food Festival.
The awards were held by the Caribbean Tourism Organization.
