Last week’s two-day Tobago Day celebrations at the Shaw Park Complex were not only about showcasing the abundance of talent on the island.
Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles said the Tobago Day Expo, which took place on Thursday and Friday (Dec 6-7) helped to create opportunities for entrepreneurs on the island.
“At the end of the day, we hope to lift the profile of the goods and services that are manufactured, produced or generated in Tobago, so that we begin to have a true understanding and appreciation for what we produce here and its value,” Charles said.
Charles said the idea was to provide a platform for business-to-business interaction and networking, as well as to connect businesses and consumers.
“It is underpinning the theme or the tagline of our new go-to-market strategy, where we are saying Tobago: Beyond Ordinary,” he said.
The expo also featured a youth talk, discussions on career in sport, parenting skills, tips for consumers, fashion show, and performances from artistes including Preedy and Erphaan Alves.
