Every summer children look forward to attending the Kool Kids Vacation Camp, organised by the Division of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour.
Camp Coordinator Annelyse Collette said the initiative started in 2013 with a focus on helping parents find a safe space where their children are engaged during the July/August vacation period. This year 114 campers participated.
“From 2013 until now, the camp has been running successfully. Our numbers have increased drastically over the years; we had persons from different organisations coming in, persons from the health sector, the food and nutrition unit, the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service and from TEMA,” said Collette.
The three-week camp was themed ‘Your Health and You’ and came to a close on August 2, 2019 with a ceremony at the Lowlands Multipurpose Facility.
