Development funding paves the way for growth

Tobago is known for its slogan: “Clean, Green, Safe, and Serene.”

As the island’s environmental initiatives continue to gain momentum, Finance Secretary Joel Jack indicated that funding up to US$16 million will be provided for Tobago to conduct key coastal zone projects.

The additional funding is expected to be distributed by the Development Bank of Latin America [Corporacion Andina de Fomento (CAF)], “to treat with coastal zone erosion and other climate change mitigation measures,” Jack said at a recent post Executive Council media briefing.

“Additionally, beyond the direct allocation to the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), $900 million dollars will be allocated for projects by the Central Government, by ministries and statutory bodies in Tobago,” he said. These projects include the Black Rock Fire Station and the Terminal Depot at Sangsters Hill.
