Financial technology will be in the spotlight tomorrow at the Tobago Economic and Business Outlook Conference (November 20). Secretary of Finance and the Economy Joel Jack said Tobago must embrace the new technology in order to boost its development.
“We are aware of the new advances in technology and this has enabled an environment that seeks to deliver services in more relevant and convenient ways, to consumers and businesses,” Jack said.
The Finance Secretary said with the current global financial changes, the Tobago House of Assembly was seeking to create awareness among the business financial services community about the advances in technology and digital currencies.
“We will be delving into areas such as cryptocurrencies and bitcoin,” Jack added, “and although they are still strange to us here in Tobago, I think we have a responsibility to inform the wider Tobago Community.”
