Finance Boost For Farmers

Financing in the farming and forestry industry is expected to be improved with tomorrow’s launch of the National Agricultural Finance Support Programme, better known as the Agro-Incentive.

And industry stakeholders, including crop and livestock farmers, fisher-folk, wildlife farmers, agro-processors, and licensed woodcutters and saw millers are being invited to attend the launch from 5 p.m. at the Division of Community Development, Enterprise Development and Labour, Montessori Drive, Glen Road.

The programme is aimed at encouraging new and existing farmers to invest in modern technology or other efficiency upgrades on their farms. This will help reduce the effects of changing weather patterns and labour reliance, introduce efficient water use, improve food and health safety reduce production costs.

Successful applicants can access a grant or incentive valued at up to $100,000 for farm and facility upgrades (such as machinery, new technology) and purchasing new breeding stock, and other activities that will improve production.
