Fifty entrepreneurs in Tobago received seed capital grants totalling $375,000 from the REACH (Realisation of Economic Achievement) Programme recently.
The businesses range from animal husbandry, hair and beauty care, food processing and agro processing to auto car care, woodworking, garment construction, food preparation and electrical installation.
Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles was at the distribution ceremony, and he urged the recipients to use the funds wisely.
“We trust that you would take this investment seriously and work exceptionally hard to bring about multiplication and the increase, so that will help you become more self-sufficient for your homes and your families,” Charles stated.
Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Dr. Agatha Carrington asked the entrepreneurs to provide services that meet the needs of families in Tobago.
“We encourage you such that you shape the future of our society but more importantly we encourage you to think equal, build smart [and] innovate for change for all of Tobago,” Dr. Carrington added.
The grants were distributed at the Scarborough Library Facility on March 26.
