50 persons received seed grants to establish small businesses yesterday (March 26, 2019) during the Project for the Realisation of Economic Achievement (REACH) Unit’s grant distribution ceremony. The unit is part of the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development.
$375,000 in grants were distributed to persons interested in launching businesses in various sectors including food processing, garment construction, and electrical installation.
The ceremony was held under the International Women’s Day campaign theme “#BalanceforBetter” at the Scarborough Library where two former grant recipients were on hand to sell their products.
The REACH Unit focuses on empowerment and poverty eradication among the poor and vulnerable in communities throughout Tobago in order to assist them in gaining economic independence. Persons are able to access grants worth $7,500 under the programme.
