Healthier citizens means better wellbeing and lower healthcare costs.
This is the main idea behind Caribbean Wellness Day, which will be celebrated on Friday (September 7).
The Division of Health, Wellness, and Family Development will commemorate the occasion with activities such as eye health screening and a public awareness campaign at Gulf City Mall on Friday (September 7) from 10 a.m.
Caribbean Wellness Day is observed every year on the second Saturday of September. The annual event, inaugurated in 2008, provides an opportunity to increase the awareness of the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the Caribbean.
It’s also an opportunity to mobilise and strengthen public, private, and civil society partnerships for NCDs; promote multi-country, multi-sectoral activities in support of wellness; and showcase activities that promote healthy living.
