Medical records centre opening soon

The new medical records centre for Tobago is expected to be commissioned next month.

Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development Dr. Agatha Carrington said things were in the final stages of preparation for the facility. “It’s ready for opening, so that we expect that we should have a date this month. I have asked for the date to be no later than 31st of March,” she said.

Dr. Carrington also indicated that service delivery at the Scarborough General Hospital, and patient waiting times, have improved. “Based on what the feedback has been, persons are expressing that now they no longer wait as long,” she said.

The Health Secretary said that non-emergency patients are now being filtered according to these needs and discharged, while those who need more urgent care are being managed in the trauma area.
