International Men’s Day 2021

International Men’s Day will be celebrated on November 19th under the theme ‘Better Relationships Between Men and Women.’

The Blue Room, located at the old Scarborough Hospital at the Fort, was launched in November 2019 and is the country’s only dedicated medical space for males in the public health system.

Men can visit the Blue Room this month as part of the International Men’s Day initiative where they can get services such as checking their blood pressure, biomass index, and sugar levels,” said Founder of Be Male Examples Now (BMen) Michael Stewart.

Stewart and Founder of International Men’s Day, Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh, were guests on Tobago Channel 5 (November 17th) as part of DHWFD Wellness Wednesdays initiative, where the discussion included the observation of this year’s International Men’s Day.

The men of Tobago have really been supported by the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development,” said Stewart.

This year 92 countries will be observing it. Most of the events will be online because of the pandemic. There will be online webinars, podcasts, and interviews,” said Teelucksingh.

Teelucksingh said bringing back virtues such as hard-work was important for young men and the community as a whole, while Stewart indicated using virtual technology will enable his NGO to reach more men who can create a united front for betterment. The first International Men’s Day was celebrated in 1999.
