OCS Family Hits the Outdoors
“One Family, One Love.”
That was the theme of the recent Five-A-Side Football Competition and Cooler Lime, hosted for staff at the Office of the Chief Secretary (OCS) and their family members. That spirit of friendship and camaraderie was also the motivation behind hosting the event on the Corpus Christi holiday.
This was the first social event to be hosted by OCS since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and acting Chief Administrator Ethlyn John is looking forward to similar events in future.
“It is with a glad heart that I welcome you to the first, of what we hope will be many fun events that the Office of the Chief Secretary will have in 2022,” the acting Chief Administrator said.
Bragging rights on the day went to “OSH Labourers”, a combined team of the OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) Department and the Department of Labour. They lifted the winning trophy for the football competition, outlasting “TEMA FC” from the penalty spot in the final. They also claimed the winners’ prize of $3,500, courtesy First Citizens.
TEMA FC, of course representing the Tobago Emergency Management Agency, received hampers courtesy Smithfield Grocery after finishing second.
Teams and their family members also faced off in novelty games, musical chairs and all-fours and a watermelon eating contest, all in the name of fun. And, there were activities on offer to keep the kids engaged.
Overall, the togetherness displayed on the day was encouraging for Chief Secretary-Tobago Hon. Farley Augustine.
“We have to find a lot more time to get together, whether it’s as departments or Divisions as a whole,” the Chief Secretary told attendees.
