Revitalizing Tourism

Virgin Atlantic passengers greeted by Dame Lorraines upon their arrival at the ANR Robinson International Airport (2022).

Virgin Atlantic returned to Tobago on January 29th with flight VS 177 out of London’s Heathrow Airport to Tobago’s ANR Robinson International Airport.

It was the airline’s first flight to the island after almost two years. The airline’s route to Tobago will be conducted twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

International passengers who disembarked at the airport were treated to the rhythm of sweet steelpan music as part of a cultural showcase that also included dancers and drummers in celebration of the arrival of Virgin Atlantic.

Assistant Secretary for the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation Megan Morrison and other THA representatives were present to welcome the passengers.

The UK is Tobago’s largest source market and the airline’s flight follows British Airways return to Tobago on January 10th.

On the island, infrastructural work is also being done at some of the local tourists’ attractions. The THA plans to start work on the Little Tobago jetty during the first quarter of 2022.

We are preparing for peak season in the Easter period, and we don’t want  to miss another year of income for our stakeholders,” THA Chief Secretary Hon. Farley Augustine said.

In addition, the Infrastructure Division, recently collected data for road and drainage development at Pigeon Point as developmental work from the Pigeon Point Junction to Swallows forms part of the THA’S priority projects for the second quarter of Fiscal ’22.
