This week we’re highlighting some achievements of the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development for the period 2017-2020.

THE PINK ROOM

Women are known to take care of everyone around them, but a space was specifically created for them that focuses on meeting their health-related needs.

The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development commissioned the Women’s Health Service/Pink Room and Breast Health Clinic located at Windward Main Road, Delaford on May 27, 2019. At the clinic, women can access breast and cervical health services as well as counselling.

Over 200 women have benefited from pap smear services with timely results. Additionally, since we commissioned the Pink Room, we had three successful breast reconstruction procedures and one woman benefited from a successful breast reduction surgery, after years of back and shoulder pain due to large volume breasts,” said Registered Nurse Princess Duke.

The Pink Room also does breast and cervical cancer screening. Once a woman is 40 years and above, annual screening is advised,” Duke added.

The Division continues to work towards improving health services offered to the people of Tobago in order to improve their quality of life.

To date, over 700 women have benefited from breast cancer screening at the clinic. The Pink Room is free to the public and is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, by appointment only.

The Pink Room can be contacted at 612-7465.
