Tobago Ready To ‘AMPitUP’

Think you have what it takes to be Tobago’s next top agripreneur?

Agriculture NGO WHYFARM (We Help You-th Farm) has developed AMPitUP, an agripreneur mastermind programme intended to help participants take their agribusiness to the next level. The programme will be conducted with the support of Tobago House of Assembly’s Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development and the Massy Foundation.

WHYFARM’s founder and executive director Alpha Sennon wants to find the top agripreneur.

There will be weekly challenges throughout the programme and assignments to do. We’ll also be teaching participants about social entrepreneurship and giving back to the community. We have an entire curriculum planned,” Sennon said.

During the eight-week programme, participants will gain agripreneurship training, learn effective fundraising strategies, and network with local and international mentors.

Tobago residents ages 18-35 who have an agricultural business product or service can apply.

Sennon said this demographic can help create the desired change in the agri-sector. He believes participants’ experiences, combined with the information provided by WHYFARM, will support the advancement of agripreneurship in Tobago.

Sennon said the programme isn’t only for farmers.

There are young people developing businesses. They have no farms, but they are doing business, whether it’s cereal made from local provision or a cut-up sweet potato pack, we want these persons to participate as well,” Sennon said.

The programme will run from June to August 2022. Interested persons can register until May 27th. To find out more about this mastermind programme, visit the Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development’s Facebook page.
