Tobago Swimmers Win 5 Medals

The Tobago YMCA Aqua Warriors splashed their way to five medals, at the Amateur Swimming Association of Trinidad and Tobago (ASATT) National Age Group Long Course Championships, which concluded over the weekend (February 23rd – 27th).

The team of Jacob Cox, Ornella Walker, and Mosi Denoon competed at the Championships at the National Aquatic Centre in Balmain, Couva. They swam their way to four gold medals and one silver.

Jacob Cox won the silver medal at the national championships in the 200-meter breaststroke event in the Boys 13-14 age group.

Ornella Walker, in the Women’s 18 and over age group, brought home gold in the 50-meter backstroke event with a time of 29.91, which also is a qualifying time for the CCCAN Games, which is being held later this year.

Mosi Denoon received  three gold medals in the Men 18 and over age-group category. Denoon claimed gold in the 200-meter breaststroke, 100-meter breaststroke and 50-meter breaststroke events. Additionally, he successfully swam qualifying times for the UANA Pan American Masters Swimming Championships 2022 which will be held in July in Medellin, Colombia.

Denoon indicated he was looking forward to the event in Columbia

I feel happy about my performance at the start of this season. My goal is to improve my time for the next upcoming swimming championships,” he said.
