Tobago Traditional Carnival Museum
Themed ‘Carnival Tabanca,’ learn about Tobago’s rich Carnival history through the Tobago Traditional Carnival Museum on Friday (February 25th).
The smaller of the twin islands may not be having Carnival this month, but persons can learn about and enjoy the Carnival experience at the Tobago Traditional Carnival Museum.
Engage in our rich history and take a lively journey from our past into our present.
“Our history and culture are very important to preserve. It allows us an opportunity to not only showcase our culture, but document and practice what we have learned. For example, we practice what we’ve learned through our oral traditions and our visual arts. The Carnival Museum allows us to celebrate as a proud and liberated people,” Cultural Officer II Jesse Taylor said.
Tours through the museum will take place at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. All COVID-19 Safety Protocols will be observed.
The Carnival Museum is a collective endeavor.
“It’s a collaborative effort among the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation, Tobago Festivals Commission Ltd., and the Tobago Performing Arts Company, in designing, planning, coordinating, and implementing the event,” said Tobago Festivals Commission Ltd. CEO John Arnold.
