Tobago Welcomes You
November is Caribbean Tourism Month.
Worldwide, more people are beginning to travel again. Trinidad and Tobago has joined the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) in observance of Caribbean Tourism Month, which in 2021 is themed ‘Caribbean Comeback.’ The theme is an invitation for visitors to come back to the Caribbean to enjoy the sun, sea and other elements that attracted them to the region.
The Division of Tourism, Culture and Transportation has continued to work throughout the pandemic to improve Tobago’s tourism product and to adapt to the evolving tourism market as the COVID-19 pandemic created many shifts in how the sector is marketed. This included new initiatives and the implementation of new protocols to ensure post-COVID competitiveness.
Recently, the Tobago New Normal Task Force partnered with the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) to host a two-day training event geared at providing local tourism stakeholders with information that will help them create a safer environment during COVID-19. The event’s aim was to get Tobago’s tourism industry stakeholders accredited with the Caribbean’s Travellers Health Assurance stamp for Healthier Safer Tourism (HST), which is a measurable and verifiable travellers health assurance and recognition award. The Task Force supports CARPHA’s HST stamp and is encouraging tourism stakeholders to obtain this certification.
In addition, Tobago continues to distinguish itself among the Caribbean islands, with accolades such as its silver award from TIC’s Destination Awards in recognition of the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited’s (TTAL) strategy for the industry in response to COVID-19 and on-island initiatives aimed at repositioning the destination for recovery. This included the implementation of the World Travel and Tourism Council Safe Travels Stamp.
As part of Caribbean Tourism Month, the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL) will host activities on their Facebook page in celebration, including a live wellness demo featuring Tobago and other CTO destinations this Wednesday (November 10th) at 11:00 a.m.
