Citizens helped build Complex

More than 70 Tobago tradesmen and labourers contributed to construction of the Roxborough Administrative Complex, which was commissioned earlier this month.

The project was fulfilled by local contractor, Towers Consortium Consultancy Limited with two contractors from the village of Roxborough subcontracted for landscaping and scaffolding services.

Secretary of the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries, and the Environment Kwesi Des Vignes indicated that the Administrative Complex was a testament to the capabilities of the Tobago workforce.

“It is a Tobago-based contractor that did this…we had 75 Tobagonians directly employed on this project… over 5 million dollars of wages and salaries went into the pockets of Tobagonians on this project…The people of Tobago are well able of delivering quality and the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and the Environment is proud to champion and lead the way in the infrastructural development of Tobago,” Des Vignes said.

The project was managed by the Urban Development Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (UDeCOTT) with $891,000 saved on a project originally estimated at $46 million TT.
