One hundred and fifty people have so far been confirmed to attend the Inaugural Tobago Environmental Partnership Conference from May 13-14 at the Mt. Irving Bay Resort.

The forum’s objective is to explore strategies for conserving Tobago’s ecological assets and improving the well-being of citizens through environmental management.

“The Conference has attracted the attention of Anna Cadiz-Hadeed, senior technical officer at the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI), who is scheduled to deliver findings of a capacity assessment of civil society organisations in Trinidad,” the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries, and the Environment stated yesterday via media release.

The information collected will be used to improve quality participation in environmental management.

Cadiz-Hadeed has over 10 years’ experience in sustainable development and participatory natural resource management, and has facilitated multi-stakeholder participatory processes working throughout the Caribbean islands and the Philippines.

Feature presentations will also be made by experts including Dr. Rahanna Juman, Deputy Director, Institute of Marine Affairs.

Civil society and NGO experts will lead discussions on a range of diverse topics including but not limited to environmental partnerships, climate change, and sustainable tourism.
