Million $$ Savings

Five-point-five million dollars.

That’s what the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and the Environment has saved on three recent major infrastructure projects.

The Roxborough Coastal Revetment Project and the Lambeau River Bridge replacement saw savings of $1.2 million and $3.5 million respectively. Savings on the recently-completed Roxborough Administrative Complex was recorded at $891,000.

Over the past two-years, the Division has invested in training of technical officers in project management, conflict resolution and other areas. This has helped increase the ability of workers to direct, monitor and evaluate large projects.

Infrastructure Secretary Kwesi Des Vignes said the delivery of recent projects is evidence that THA projects are being efficiently managed and kept within budget.

“As the Division continues to rebrand itself and ensure that we deliver quality works for the people of Tobago, we’re not just about putting on a fresh coat of paint on the old vehicle,” Des Vignes stated.

“What we have been doing is ensuring that our engineers, our staff are exposed to a number of training opportunities….as we look to ensure that we get the best out of our technical persons and this has directly led to a savings to date on mega projects,” Des Vignes said.
