Young residents of Castara and Parlatuvier are better equipped for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) electronic testing in computer literacy and typing skills.
Eighteen young students completed the TYPU-COM six-week programme, hosted by the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs. The programme was themed “Reaching for the Stars and Achieving Success”.
The primary and secondary school students received certificates after successfully completing the typing programme on Monday (August 20, 2018).
The TYPU-COM Readiness Summer Programme took place at the Parlatuvier Anglican School. Students learned rudiments of computer hardware and software, as well as basic typing skills, as part of their preparation for CSEC exams.
“Learning to type on the computer places you in a position of readiness for the future requisites of examinations in the Caribbean…. Continue to dream and reach for the stars [that] you see before you. Make a plan for your life and set your goals to achieve that plan,” Youth Development Director Praveen Bheem told participants at the end of the programme.
