District Games Begin

The 2018 THA District Games has started with more than 40 teams battling for supremacy in three sports.

The League tournament is being played in two age groups: Under-15 and Under-19. Football and netball action began at various community grounds on the island on July 30. The cricket competition bowled off the next day at Shaw Park Recreation Ground and Louis D’Or Recreation Ground.

Over the next few weeks, community teams will compete for cash and prizes, as well as bragging rights.

The District Games, which are co-sponsored by Nestle, are aimed at encouraging Tobago’s youth ages ten to 19 to get physically active. The event also fosters an environment for physical literacy development and camaraderie within and among communities.

The District Games Finals will be held on August 19 at the Bon Accord Recreation Ground. All events are free and open to public.
