‘Keep on Shining’

That’s the advice to Tobago’s youth from Latoyaa Roberts-Thomas, the president of the Tobago Youth Council (TYC). She was speaking at TYC’s first event, ‘Tobago Youth Expose’, hosted on Friday (September 14) in collaboration with the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs at Shaw Park Complex.

The event featured exhibitions from young entrepreneurs and organisations that exposed attendees to various career options for the youth of Tobago. And Roberts-Thomas urged attendees from several of the island’s schools to keep doing good.

“We are aware that there are many talents within this island, some are discovered, and shining positive light in their areas, while others are still undiscovered or looking for an opportunity rise,” Roberts-Thomas said.

“We encourage you to press on and do the good work because your deeds will inspire other youths to be better in today’s society.”

The exposition included presentations on entrepreneurship from CARICOM Youth Ambassador Dexter Wilson, a panel discussion on protecting Tobago’s youth that included representatives from activist group Womantra and relationship educator Dr. Crystal Benjamin.
