National Awards for Three Tobagonians

Three Tobagonians were among the Trinidad and Tobago National Awardees at the recently held National Awards Ceremony, which took place at the National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) on September 24th.

The Medal for the Development of Women (Gold), which is given for outstanding contribution to the development of women’s rights and issues, was presented to President and Founder of Women of Substance, Onika Mars.

Her organization helps victims of domestic violence and other abuse victims, and partners with stakeholders to raise awareness about the prevention of domestic violence.

Former Business Services Manager at the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA), Martha Alicia Archer, received a Hummingbird Medal (Gold) for loyal and devoted service beneficial to Trinidad and Tobago in the category of Sport. Her contributions include serving as pres­i­dent of the T&T Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion and head of the To­ba­go Net­ball League.

Dr. Cyril Anthony Collier, Senior Lecturer at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, received the Public Service Medal of Merit (Gold) for outstanding and meritorious service to Trinidad & Tobago in the category of Education/Culture.
