Sancho Talks Sports Careers in Tobago

Former national defender Brent Sancho and well-known regional broadcaster Alex Jordan are in Tobago for a weeklong “Careers in Sport” Caravan.

The caravan is part of the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs’ “Discussions on Sport” tour, which will help inform students and athletes at secondary schools of potential careers in the sporting industry.

Jordan’s focus will be on opportunities in sport for women, while Sancho, who represented Trinidad and Tobago at the 2006 World Cup, will share his personal experiences on the road to becoming a professional athlete, as well as life during and after his professional career.

The tour kicked off this morning at the Mason Hall Secondary School, before moving to the Signal Hill Secondary.

The tour will continue tomorrow (Pentecostal Light and Life Foundation High School, 8:15 a.m.; Speyside High School, 1 p.m.), with three sessions on Wednesday (Bishop’s High School, 8.15 a.m.; Harmon’s School of SDA’s High School, 10.30 a.m.; Goodwood Secondary, 1.30 p.m.).

The final three sessions will be held on Thursday (Scarborough Secondary, 8.15 a.m.) and Friday (Roxborough Secondary, 8.30 a.m.; Bishop’s High, 11 a.m.). The final stop at Bishop’s will be a one-on-one session.
