Get up, get outdoors and get active.
That’s what the Division of Sport and Youth Affairs is encouraging all residents in Tobago to do. According to a release in commemoration of International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, which was observed worldwide on Saturday (April 6), this will help create a more active society.
It will also have benefits for the island’s developing athletes.
“By championing this principle, it can benefit all of Tobago, ensuring the environment that will nurture tomorrow’s champions,” the release stated.
The Division stated that the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace also provides an opportunity to deepen awareness about the power of sport, and the benefits of expanding participation in sport.
The release added that the Division is using sport to drive youth development by providing safe spaces “where our budding athletes can develop into stars of tomorrow and it also includes programmes geared towards their development”.
