Testing of the Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems

The Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) would conduct its mandatory monthly testing of the islands four (4) Multi- Hazard Early Warning Systems Thursday 4th June 2015.

This testing would be conducted between the hours 11:30am and 12:00noon and would not exceed (7) minutes.

Early warning systems are increasingly considered as an integral component of Disaster Preparedness. As such the Tobago Emergency Management Agency has strategically placed four (4) Solar Powered Multi- hazard Early Warning Systems on the island of Tobago. This is to ensure that in the event the high risk communities on the island are threatened by any hazard, which may warrant an evacuation, persons can be forewarned in a timely manner.

The Tobago Emergency Management Agency further advises the public that this is a routine test and does not warrant an evacuation of any kind. Audible siren tones would be heard during testing of these systems and we ask that the general public not be alarmed.  The Tobago Emergency Management Agency thanks all members of the public for their kind cooperation and we do apologize for any inconvenience caused.
