Visit to Sainte Anne, Guadeloupe

Tobago House of Assembly
The Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, the Honourable Orville London, recently led a delegation to Guadeloupe to meet with Mayor Blaise Aldo and other Officials of the City of Sainte Anne from October 6 to 8, 2011. During the course of the three-day visit, successful discussions were held about developing partnerships between the peoples of Sainte Anne and Tobago, primarily in the areas of Culture, Education, and Tourism.

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by the Secretaries of Community Development and Culture, Tracy Davidson-Celestine; Education, Youth Affairs and Sport, Whitney Alfred; and Tourism and Transportation, Oswald Williams. Chief Secretary London stated that “follow up meetings would take place over the next few months as we continue to deepen and strengthen the relationship between Tobago and Sainte Anne”.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary London wishes to advise the Tobago public that the Secretary Alfred fell ill during the visit and has been advised by the medical personnel in Guadeloupe not to travel at this time, and, therefore, remains in Guadeloupe.

Reports are that Mr. Alfred is resting comfortably, and the Chief Secretary would like to thank the Mayor of Sainte Anne, his staff, and the medical team in Guadeloupe for the high level of assistance rendered to him. During Mr. Alfred’s absence from office, his portfolio will be handled by the Chief Secretary.
