WORK to Empower

“Inspiring women in Tobago.”

That’s the aim of the island’s newest non-profit organisation, called Women Organised For Real Kindness (WORK).

The organisation was launched on May 5. WORK was founded by Catherine Anthony-Charles, wife of Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles, to help women who are going through rough patches in their lives.

“The stories of women are varied: the struggles, the battles, the endless problems,” Charles explained during the launch at the Chief Secretary’s official residence. “WORK has been birthed to respond to some of these cries, to assist ladies in their struggles.”

Charles said WORK is geared to help empower women from every walk of life.

“It’s for women regardless of their religion, their class, colour, ethnicity, even political affiliations. WORK has been formed to inspire women to be. That is our vision, inspiring women in Tobago.”

The organisation held a breakfast fundraiser in the month of April prior to the launch, and the proceeds were used to purchase a refrigerator for its first beneficiary.
