Chief Secretary’s Art Competition is Back

Tobago’s young artists will get a chance to showcase their creativity and continue the celebration of our twin-island’s Independence in the Chief Secretary’s Secondary Schools’ 2022 Art Competition.

Themed ’60 Years…the Journey Continues,’ more than $30,000 in prizes has been allocated for Tobago’s secondary schools creatives who submit their work. As part of the competition,12 finalists will be selected for the Office of the Chief Secretary’s 2023 Calendar.

Prizes include $3,000 to the winning artist and $10,000 awarded to his or her school’s art programme.

Submitted artwork must be original pieces from various categories, such as oil paint on canvas, pastels, digital media, and drawings with pencil.

Entries will be accepted until November 2, 2022.

The competition, which was first launched in 2012, has presented a great opportunity for the island’s youngest to display their vast talents, as the artists’ pieces are also publicly exhibited.

Following the close of the competition, a prize-giving ceremony will be held in celebration of the top 12 pieces, and will also launch the 2023 edition of the Office of the Chief Secretary’s calendar.
