New Year, New Beginning

The New Year provides an opportunity for a new beginning.

That’s the message from Chief Secretary Kelvin Charles, who said he hopes Tobago’s residents will have a renewed vigour and willingness to excel in every sphere of life. And he wants to see Tobagonians continue to overcome and conquer their challenges.

“In your personal lives, 2019 represents a new beginning,” The Chief Secretary said during his New Year’s Day address.

“It represents an opportunity to analyze your shortcomings and mistakes, learn from them and in some cases, master your weak areas,” Charles said, “whilst you challenge yourself to be more productive than you were in 2018 and embark on new adventures that will help you on your journey of maximising your potential.”

In his New Year address, Charles said the THA has made significant advances in the past year, especially in areas such as agriculture, training and education.

He said these include the educational sector achieving certification for some vocational training courses on the island, and the establishment of a Teachers’ Professional Centre.

He said Tobago has also managed to negotiate free tertiary education programmes with the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) in engineering, marine sciences and agriculture.
