OCS ‘The Greatest Little Island on the Planet’ Themed Art Competition for Students

This year marks the tenth (10th) edition of the Chief Secretary’s Tobago Secondary Schools’ Art Competition, hosted by the Department of Information.

The Office of the Chief Secretary, in this milestone year of the competition, will anchor the competition on the THA’s development theme: ‘The Greatest Little Island on the Planet’.

The competition has provided a platform for the island’s young artists to showcase their creativity, turn an idea into a high-quality art piece, and meet fellow creative students. It has also provided visibility and credence to the field of art, and a sense of cultural awareness with themes often linked to Tobago’s heritage.

As part of the competition,12 finalists will be selected for the Office of the Chief Secretary’s 2024 Calendar.

Prizes include $3,000 to the winning artist, a 2-week internship at e-Pixl Studio at E-IDCOT to advance his or her training in art, a Wacom tablet, and $10,000 awarded to his or her school’s art programme. Other prizes and tokens of appreciation will also be distributed to participants following the judging.

The submitted artwork must be original pieces from various categories, such as oil paint on canvas, pastels, and drawings with pencil.

Entries will be accepted until October 11, 2023 at 3:00pm. Entry forms can be downloaded HERE.

Following the closure of the competition, a prize-giving ceremony will be held in celebration of the top 12 pieces, and will also launch the 2024 edition of the Office of the Chief Secretary’s calendar.
