Brighter Days

A number of farming districts are earmarked for street lighting.

This is part of the Street Lighting Programme from the Division of Settlements, Urban Renewal and Public Utilities.

Last year, the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) installed 19 street lights in predominately agricultural communities in the final quarter of 2018. The latest recipients were residents of Cow Farm Road in Goldsborough in October.

Settlements Secretary Clarence Jacob said this was one of the key areas in need of lighting.

“The area is home to approximately 50 homestead farmers, the National Energy Skills Centre and the Plant Diagnostic Unit of the Department of Food Production,” Jacob said during yesterday’s post Executive Council media briefing at the Victor E Bruce Financial Complex. “There are also two waterfalls and nature trails which serve as tourist attractions in this district.”

Jacob said street lighting in farming communities was on the Division’s agenda and hence was recently completed in the village of Goldsborough.
