The Tobago House of Assembly’s (THA) Division of Settlement and Labour will begin distributing keys to homeowners with approved mortgages for townhouses at Adventure Phase II, Plymouth in May.

At Wednesday’s weekly post Executive Council media briefing at the Administrative Complex, Calder Hall, Settlements and Labour Secretary Councillor Deon Isaac said 62 units have already assigned to prospective homeowners through a random lottery draw.

Each unit was constructed at a cost of $1.2M but will be provided to the homeowner at a significantly subsidised rate.

The Division is also stepping up its programme to establish service lots which include roads, drains, water and electricity, in various parts of the island. Isaac said by the end of this year, 116 service lots will be distributed at Courland Land Development in West Tobago, while 45 more should be ready for distribution at Belle Garden Phase II in East Tobago within the current financial year.

The Secretary disclosed that residents of Adventure Phase I will soon have street lights, since a tender has been awarded to a contractor to carry out the programme.

The Division has also begun repairing and upgrading its sewerage treatment plants throughout Tobago. The Adventure plant has been completed and others, including the Renaissance community at Roxborough, will be rolled out in May.

The Division, he said, has been receiving positive reviews from the residents of the Blenheim Housing Development Phase I for the drainage works undertaken. Work at Phase II of that development will begin shortly.
